Welcome to My Visit to Sydney!

I am delighted to introduce my newly published illustrated children's book, My Visit to Sydney, a project that has taken many years of research, writing and dedication to bring to life.

This beautifully illustrated 28-page book takes young readers on a journey through Sydney's fascinating history, spectacular natural beauty and iconic landmarks. It also celebrates the rich Aboriginal heritage of our city, helping children gain a deeper understanding of the people, places and stories that have shaped Sydney.

To the best of my knowledge, there is no other children's book like it. My Visit to Sydney combines history, culture, landmarks and Aboriginal heritage in a way that is both engaging and accessible for children, families and visitors alike.

About the Author


Amanda is a Sydney-based author with a deep love of history, storytelling and the unique character of Australia's harbour city. Passionate about sharing Sydney's rich heritage with young readers, she enjoys bringing the city's people, places and stories to life in ways that are engaging, accessible and memorable.

Inspired by Sydney's natural beauty, diverse culture and fascinating past, Amanda explores everything from the enduring connection of Indigenous Australians to Country over tens of thousands of years to the iconic landmarks that define the city today. Through her writing, she hopes to spark curiosity, encourage learning and help children develop a deeper appreciation for Sydney and its history.

My Visit to Sydney combines historical facts with colourful storytelling, inviting readers of all ages to discover the many wonders of this remarkable city.


About the Illustrator

Iryna is a Ukrainian illustrator who studied for five years at the National Academy of Fine Arts and Architecture in Kyiv. She works primarily in watercolour and also enjoys traditional printmaking techniques such as linocut and etching.

Her artwork explores places, culture and history, with a particular interest in architecture and the stories it tells about the people who live there. Illustration has been a lifelong passion, and she is delighted to have made it her career.

Despite the challenges facing Ukraine during the ongoing war, Iryna continues to create art that celebrates the beauty, history and spirit of her homeland.
